ViTAMiN F…a name becoming more and more familiar to those on the metal/hardcore scene with each passing day. In more recent times, like say the past year or so, you can find ViTAMiN F gracing the pages of worldwide publications such as Metal Edge and Livewire as well as numerous fanzines and webzines. Why? Because this band refuses to be ignored. So what makes ViTAMiN F special in a world of infinite garage bands and undeserving signed acts? PERSEVERANCE.
Essential fatty acid
Essential fatty acids, or EFAs, are fatty acids that cannot be constructed within an organism from other components (generally all references are to humans) by any known chemical pathways; and therefore must be obtained from the diet. The term refers to those involved in biological processes, and not fatty acids which may just play a role as fuel. As many of the compounds created from essential fatty acids can be taken directly in the diet, it is possible that the amounts required in the diet (if any) are overestimated. It is also possible they can be underestimated as organisms can still survive in unideal, malnourished conditions.
Unsaturated fatty acids have one or more carbon-carbon double bonds in the molecule. Chemically these double bonds can take up hydrogen, which is the process of hydrogenation, forming saturated fatty acids. Fatty acids with only one double bond are termed mono-unsaturated, oleic acid is the main one in fats and oils. Fatty acids with two or more double bonds are polyunsaturated fatty acids, often abbreviated to pufa.
Hair loss and eczema may be indicated when deficient in Vitamin F and may cause damage to the kidneys, heart and liver. Behavioral disturbances are also noted when deficient. The immune system can become less efficient with resultant slow healing and susceptibility to infections.

A small group of fatty acids is essential in the diet. They occur in body structures, especially the different membranes inside and around cells, and cannot be synthesized in the body from other fats.

There is also a minimum requirement for fat—not for total fat, but only for the fatty acids linoleic acid (a so-called omega-6 fatty acid) and alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid).
Tear glands can also not work effectively and may dry up. Blood pressure and cholesterol levels may be higher when deficient and blood more likely to form clots.
